How to Hire Research Assistants with General Fund Grants

Students may be hired to work as research assistants with the following restrictions:

  • Students may work no more than 20 hours per week when classes are in session.

  • Students may work up to 40 hours per week during the winter recess, intersession, and spring recess.

  • If you wish to hire a student as a research assistant, they must be paid at a rate and step from the Student Salary Schedule PDF file. As salary is paid, it must be identified according to the number of hours worked and the student salary range and step for that student.
